Bonnie Skobel

Six years ago Bonnie was an elementary school principal living in
White Rock, enjoying her life as she balanced work, family, and
friends. She was quite unaware of the major shift in her life that
was about to occur.

Bonnie has many achievements: teacher, published author, Simon Fraser University faculty advisor, a Masters of Education degree but, the accomplishment she’s most proud of is the way her two beautiful daughters have grown into such independent, strong women. Physical activity and healthy eating were always a priority for Bonnie. All of the family was active with skiing, cycling, and swimming. While never taking her good health for granted [too often], she certainly didn’t anticipate ever having a life threatening illness or what the impact would be of receiving a diagnosis of breast cancer in 2001. On April 3, 2007, Bonnie will share with you the story of her 6 year journey; a story of how her family and friends stood by her, and how she found the strength physically, emotionally, and psychologically with tears and much laughter, to not only travel back on the road to good health but to embrace life with new meaning and new priorities.
