BETTY ANN VATER
is the Director of Promotions/Special Events and Breast Cancer Spokeswoman for French Dressing Jeanswear.
Born in St. John’s Newfoundland, Betty Ann grew up loving horses, music and musical theatre and performed in orchestras, choirs and other musical reviews, something she enjoys to this day. She saw firsthand the devastating effects of Breast Cancer on loved ones, as her Mother, Grandmother and Aunt were all striken with the disease.
After receiving her education, she became a teacher and taught high school for 5 years. BA (as her friends call her) enjoyed studying the English language and literature, reading poetry and occasionally writing her own. In the 1970’s she met and married her husband Bill, when together they began working in the garment industry and formed B.A. Agencies Ltd. This agency is still in operation representing clothing manufacturers in Canada’s Atlantic Provinces.
Betty Ann is the first female member and first female executive member of the Newfoundland Commercial Travellers Association, a Past member of the Board of Directors of Maritime Fashion Exhibitors and joined French Dressing Jeanswear in July 2000 as International Sales Director. She was appointed to the Board of Directors, Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, Atlantic Division, Fall 2003.
Betty Ann first became involved in raising funds for Breast Cancer in 1998 with a retail friend in Eastern Canada. This continues to be a passion for BA. She is a keynote speaker at many events throughout Canada and the United States as well. Quick-witted, dynamic, full of fun are just some of the ways to describe this lovely and gifted woman! If prompted, she will sing for you!
